Nominate a marine conservation zone | |
| The Marine Conservation Society has launched a campaign, supported by Kate Humble on Spring Watch, asking people to nominate places around the UK coast as marine conservation zones. Sea Vision partner Sea Trust (South & West Wales) is asking people to nominate Strumble Head, nr. Fishguard, Pembrokeshire, which they rate as one of the best coastal places for seeing cetaceans. |

SS Robin Trust is looking for Trustees | |
| Sea Vision partner and registered charity SS Robin Trust is inviting applications from anyone who would be interested in joining the charity's management board. The SS Robin is a unique symbol of Britain's extraordinary maritime history, one of only three "Grade1" / Core Collection ships in London, alongside Cutty Sark and HMS Belfast. |

Top national talent sought for maritime awards | |
| The Maritime Foundation has launched its search for the country's top maritime journalists, writers and broadcasters for its annual awards. First held in 1995 with one journalism prize presented in memory of Desmond Wettern, one of the most well-known and respected naval correspondents of the last century, the event has grown to become the largest and most prestigious within the maritime sector. |

Deeper than Light | |
| An exhibition featuring the fascinating world of the deepest oceans has officially opened at the Aberdeen Maritime Museum. The exhibition is a visual interaction between art, science and technology. Deeper than light explains new scientific discoveries, unusual deep-sea life forms, advanced marine technology and shows fascinating film footage and visualisations, photos, paintings, drawings and scientific illustrations. |

Shipping and global climate change goals | |
| The Environmental Audit Committee has published its report on Reducing CO2 and other emissions from shipping. While recognising that shipping ought to do relatively well out of a carbon-constrained world and that shipping is the most carbon-efficient mode of transport, the report expressed frustration at the slow progress that has been made towards including shipping in carbon reduction strategies. |

Relax and enjoy England-on-Sea | |
| This year is officially one of the best on record for the quality of England's beaches. Results released by Keep Britain Tidy reveal that a total of 184 Blue Flags and Quality Coast Awards have been given to beaches in recognition of their high quality environments and facilities. |

All aboard HQS Wellington | |
| HQS Wellington, sailed the trade routes, protecting Britain and vital supplies along convoy routes during World War Two. With this in mind, the Wellington Trust, with help from HMS Belfast, has developed two curriculum based, interactive sessions offering schoolchildren an insight into the workings of a ship and an opportunity to explore HQS Wellington's historical past. |

Forty years of distance learning for seafarers | |
| The Marine Society & Sea Cadets (MSSC) College of the Sea is celebrating the 40th anniversary of a partnership with the Open University (OU). The College of the Sea delivers flexible learning to seafarers and provides financial support to British seafarers to help with their education. |

1,779 boats take part in the Isle of Wight 'Round the Island Race' | |
| The race is now the largest of its kind in the world, with competitors coming from all walks of life. Professional and Olympic sailors line up with family cruisers, sportsboats, classic yachts and one designs. Competitors come from Europe and the USA, as well as all over the UK, to follow the 50 mile course around the Island. |
